Hello,

I have an HP Spectre x360 13.5-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000, and I am having an issue connecting my HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen to the laptop.

I have already made sure that my Windows, drivers, and HP software are fully updated, and I have also tried several troubleshooting methods to connect the pen. The pen is also fully charged, but it still does not work with the touchscreen.

Could someone please confirm whether the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is compatible with the HP Spectre x360 14-ef0000? If it is compatible, I would appreciate it if you could explain the correct method for pairing/connecting the pen and any required drivers or settings.

Thank you for your help.

Hi  @Azaan5

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and I appreciate the detailed information you've shared.

I understand that you're trying to use your HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen with your HP Spectre x360 13.5-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000, and despite ensuring that Windows, drivers, and HP software are up to date and that the pen is fully charged, the pen is still not responding on the touchscreen.

To help us guide you more accurately, could you kindly confirm the following:

  • Does the touchscreen respond normally to finger touch input?
  • When you touch the screen with the pen, is there any cursor movement or response at all?
  • If available, have you had an opportunity to test the pen on another compatible HP device?
  • Does the pen appear in Bluetooth & Devices when the shortcut button is pressed, or are you unable to complete pairing?

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

  1. Verify that the touchscreen is functioning correctly with finger touch.
  2. Restart the notebook and test the pen before opening any applications.
  3. Open Device Manager and expand Human Interface Devices. Ensure there are no warning symbols next to HID-compliant touch screen or pen-related devices.
  4. In Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, right-click the Bluetooth adapter, select Uninstall device, restart the notebook, and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
  5. Press and hold the top shortcut button on the pen for several seconds and check whether the pen appears under Settings > Bluetooth & Devices.
  6. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows (Click here for steps) and check for any touchscreen-related issues.

Hi @Azaan5,

Thanks for your response and Thank you for the update.

Based on the information you've provided:

  • The touchscreen works normally with finger touch.
  • The pen does not move the cursor or interact with the screen.
  • The pen does not appear in Bluetooth, which is expected because Bluetooth is only used for the shortcut buttons on many HP pens and is not required for basic writing functionality.

The HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is compatible with the HP Spectre x360 13.5-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000, so normally no special pairing is required for the pen tip to work.

Follow the simple steps to Verify :

  1. Confirm the pen is charged.
  2. Restart the notebook.
  3. Open Device Manager and ensure HID-compliant touch screen is listed without warning symbols.
  4. In Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Pen & Windows Ink, verify Windows detects pen support.
  5. Test the pen directly on the screen without attempting Bluetooth pairing.

Since:

  • Finger touch works correctly,
  • The pen tip produces no response at all,
  • The pen is charged,
  • Drivers and Windows are up to date,

the issue is most likely with the pen hardware itself rather than the notebook configuration.

If possible, test the pen on another MPP-compatible device or test another known-working MPP pen on your Spectre. If the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen still shows no response,Kindly let me know .

I hope this helps.
