I have had the computer since 2020 or so - The touch screen and pen initially worked since I got it until one day it just stopped less than a year and a half in. The touch screen will not respond at all. Yes, I've changed the pen batteries. Yes, I've updated drivers. Yes, I'm sure that the computer was touchscreen and the pen came with it. I have become aware as of today (trying to fix it once again) that I may not have been given the correct HP pen for the device. I have a NOT rechargeable stylus/pen that has two buttons and takes a 4A battery. The bit IS still in there and yes it has a FRESH BRAND NEW battery inside.
I have been so frustrated by this that it genuinely makes me not want to purchase another HP product again. Seeing something drop off in usability soon as warranty expires doesn't make for happy consumers 😕

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Spectre Folio. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem
Check Pen Compatibility: Ensure that you are using a compatible pen for your HP Spectre Folio. HP may have specific pens designed for your model. Check the HP website or your laptop's documentation for the correct pen model.
Check Device Manager: Open the Device Manager on your computer and check if there are any issues with the touchscreen or pen drivers. Look for any yellow exclamation marks or error messages. If you find any issues, try updating or reinstalling the drivers.
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Look for "Human Interface Devices" and expand it.
- Find the touchscreen and pen-related devices, right-click, and select "Update driver."
Pen Battery Orientation: Confirm that the battery in the pen is inserted correctly. Sometimes, inserting the battery in the wrong orientation can cause issues. Refer to your laptop's manual or HP's support documentation for the correct orientation.
HP Support Assistant: Use HP Support Assistant to check for updates and install the latest drivers for your laptop. This tool can automatically detect and install the necessary updates.
HP Diagnostic Tools: HP provides diagnostic tools that can help identify and fix hardware-related issues. Download and run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics from the official HP support website.
BIOS Update: Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
