I've had my HP Spectre x360 15 laptop for about 2.5 years and have never had a problem with using a secondary display connected by HDMI.
I use it as a work computer so it is constantly on and being used.
Over the weekend sometime, my second monitor started showing a blank screen and both HDMI ports show as inactive on the splash screen for the monitor. It is a HP27es monitor.
The monitor worked on Friday / Saturday but was not working on Monday morning.
I've tried multiple different options that I found here on the forums, and elsewhere, to troubleshoot my issues, but nothing has resolved my problem.
This laptop is identical to another laptop we own and when I plug the HDMI cable into it, the monitor comes right up immediately with no issues.
I've uninstalled video and audio using device manager and reinstalled. I've updated BIOS. I've updated all drivers. Nothing seems to work.
The laptop recognizes that the monitor is connected via HDMI, and even recognizes the model of the monitor, but the monitor still thinks that the HDMI port is inactive.
I've seen multiple indications that I should see my monitor in the Settings > Sounds > Playback Devices, but it doesn't show up on the laptop that is having issues. It does show up on my other laptop when it is plugged in.
Also, there is a driver for "Detection Verification" that never gets applied. I've downloaded Driver Easy and every time I run it, it shows that no driver exists, even though I have installed the driver that Driver Easy recommends multiple times. I believe this driver is connected to the RealTek Audio Driver, which I've downloaded and updated several times from the HP Download center. I've even rolled that driver back multiple times to see if that would fix the issue to no avail.
Really could use some help on this.
Thanks in advance!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the HDMI port is not working on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.
BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112001-112500/sp112138.exe
Chipset: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105787.exe
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
