My laptop is about 2 years old and has been working perfectly until 3 months ago. My screen randomly changed colours and I couldn't see anything on the screen. Restarting doesn't help as it still is the same upon restart.

Most times, I close my laptop or put it to sleep and wait a few hours before it goes back to normal but it happens randomly when I'm working and it's stressing me out.

I've researched on something similar but most would either be about resetting the BIOS or updating drivers but if I restart the laptop, the issue comes back so it's kind of an iffy situation for me.

I could get a new one but I would like it if I knew what the issue was before getting a new one.

It sounds like a hardware issue.  Is the external video affected?  If the external video is doing the same thing it could be memory or system board.   If not, it is more likely to be the LCD cable or LCD itself.

Does movement of the screen(open/close) affect it?  If it does it is probably the cable.  I don't know if you are able to, but I would probably start by re-seating the LCD cable.

I hope this helps.

Sorry, what do you mean by external video? It affects the graphics but the sounds still play or the graphics move if something is playing. Basically, everything is normal just they the screen is bad and I can't see anything.

I don't think the movement of the laptop affects it. It just happens randomly even when stationary whether it's charging or not.
