HP Spectre x360 Convertable 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

(Im new with computers and I do not know how to operate them very well)

It has been almost 2 weeks since I got my new gem cut HP Spectre x360. I loved all aspects of it; it ran cold, great asthetics, great keyboard and more. I wanted to customize my windows look to make it more pleasing to the eye by getting rainmeter to apply a skin for windows. However, I quickly realized my CPU usage sky rocketed and its temperatures became hot (70 degrees) real quick so i deleted all software but it still ran quite hot. (wasnt cold as it used to be) so maybe I thought there was software that I wasnt able to delete so considering i had minor issues with windows hello i decided to reset my device completely. I did so and I thought everything was back to normal, but i realized my wallpaper remained intact with my theme settings, i wasnt too sure if that was supposed to happen but I just played along with it.

But i quickly realized my CPU usage still hasnt gone down. I still get around 50% cpu usage all the way to 100 at idle sometimes. Although this has dropped to around 30% when i initially turn on task manager (this was after i did a bios update that HP Support Asisstance recommended me) My thermals still remained at 70 degrees although it has dropped to around 50 now. (My CPU originally ran at 8% usage and around 0.8 ghz but now it runs around 1.2 to 1.5ghz)  But what Im most concerned with is that my laptop screen sometimes flickers, it shows a purple line through the screen and turns black for a second and turns back on.

Ill be happy if i can get some help

@Geonho The processor on your device can handle up to 105-degree celsius: Click here and verify under Tjunction for details.

As for, the issue with the flickering screen among others, I suggest running a hardware test on the device to ensure this isn't a hardware issue, after updating the BIOS, Chipset and the graphics card from the HP website: Click here to access

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
  • If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

P.S: Welcome to HP Forums! 😉
