Spectre x360 15-ch011dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Spectre x360 15-ch011dx Convertible purchased 11-2018, Windows 10. I updated BIOS 5/14/2021 per online suggestion. As well as updating display drivers on 7/7/2021 and 7/28/2021. This issue has basically plagues me since I purchased the laptop but seems to be getting  more noticeable. Has there been a fix found for this that isn't replacing my screen as I am out of warranty?screen issue 3.jpgscreen issue.jpg

Hi@lordgoatee

Try performing a BIOS default on your PC and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also, Uninstall the graphics driver from the device manager and install the latest drivers and BIOS from the links below.

If the screen is flickering in BIOS, it is certainly a hardware issue with your PC.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I performed the BIOS default.

When attempting to install the graphics driver, i receive the following error:

When attempting to update the BIOS, I receive an option saying this BIOS update is blocked :

After changing BIOS to default settings, the screen began to flicker. This only occured after resetting to default and not previously.

I updated the BIOS, but the issue still persists. All graphics and display drivers are up to date as well.

This will the last troubleshooting step.

  1. Turn off your HP laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB drives, etc.) from your computer.
  3. Remove all recently added internal hardware.
  4. Press the Power button to switch your HP laptop on.
  5. Once your unit starts booting, immediately press the F11 key. Repeatedly press it until you see the Choose an Option screen.
  6. Select Troubleshoot.
  7. Choose Reset this PC.
  8. You can either opt to keep your files or to remove everything.
  9. Select Keep My Files when you want to retain your data. Once you click Reset, your operating system will be reinstalled. The process may take a while.
  10. Choose Remove Everything when you want to remove all your personal files.
  11. You can opt to remove everything solely on the drive where your operating system is installed. On the other hand, you can click All Drives when you do not want to retain any data.
  12. You can also fully clean the drive you selected or just remove your files.
  13. Click Reset.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

unfortunately this has not helped either. It has actually made the problem worse and now when I start up the screen is unreadable.

Hi@ lordgoatee,

`We have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to checked taking remote access so that get to know it's a hardware or software issue.

I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
