HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0013dx

I have a Spectre x 360 and the touchpad is bulging.  Can anyone tell me what the cause would be?

Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

The bulge is likely the result of a bloated battery.

What?

It happens -- battery technology used by HP and other companies is imperfect and sometimes the battery swells as it ages.

If the battery is the source of the problem, the only solution is to remove and replace the battery.

The situation will not get better on its own and it could get worse.

The information you need to change out the battery is available.

NOTE >> In most cases HP does not sell the replacement battery -- most of the time we must purchase a compatible battery from a favorite (or acceptable) online merchant.  Check large retailers like eBay or Amazon -- check other reputable parts merchants in your region, too.

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

  • Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case warps or won’t close, touch-pad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
