HP Envy x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: HP Envy x360 Convertible

Problem area: HP Truvision camera has stopped working

The laptop is 3 years old (bought Jan2017) - at that time the camera worked - I used it regularly for Skype.

I recently tried to use it, and it comes on initially, then goes off, then on, and so on repeatedly.

The Windows driver system says it is working correctly.

I have no idea how to fix it.

After trying a few times, I repeated Step 1 with one bit of info that's missing from the list you gave......

Here's the revised list:

Step 1 Re-install the drivers -

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Expand the Imaging Devices.
3) Right-click on the HP Webcam and select Uninstall.

Here's the Additional action: Click on Delete the driver software for this device
4) Confirm the uninstallation.
5) Restart the computer to reinstall the Webcam driver.

After doing that, it worked.

Thanks very much !

Hi, I am the original writer of this Thread - I had the problem with the camera.

Although it seemed to work ok after the 'fix' - the problem re-occurs, and not only that, the camera only works for a short time (maybe 5-10 seconds), before failing again - it freezes for several seconds, restarts, freezes repeatedly.

I have tried looking for updated drivers, but the HP Support doesn't even offer ANY driver for the Truevision HD camera.

Is there a long term fix for this ?

@stevehas

Thank you for the update.

In that case, I would suggest try creating a new user account on your computer.

Go to http://hp.care/2dWJKgW  and follow the steps to create a new user account.

If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset.

Have a nice day!!
