I am trying to connect a Dell U2412M 1920x1200 display to a HP Elitebook 840 G8 laptop through its USB-C G5 docking station via HDMI port to DVI-D in the display, but 1920x1200 resolution, but in Windows this resolution is not available and defaults to 1680x1050. Actually, when booting, bitlocker shows at 1920x1200 and then Windows reverts to 1680x1050. I have already updated the docking station firmware and all the laptop Windows drivers. If I connect the cable directly to the computer, it works fine, as does with my Raspberry Pi 3. It also works if I connect the display to the docking station via DP cable (but unfortunately this port is not available because it is being used by my desktop computer).
I notice that when connected to the computer, in the Intel Graphics Command Center, it says that it is connected via DisplayPort (same happens when connected to my 1080 TV directly through HDMI-HDMI cable, but with the TV it works well at 1920x1080). OTOTH, when I connect the Dell display directly to the laptop HDMI port, it says Connector type HDMI. It looks as if the docking station implements HDMI protocol via DP to the computer and they forgot to support 1920x1200.
Any idea on how to solve this problem?
Thank you

I'm facing a similar issue. Using the display ports on G5 Dock the resolution is limited to 1680x1050 on firmware 1.0.14.0. No issue using a HDMI cable.
So i've updated the dock to 1.0.15.0. Now a resolution changed to 1920x1080 (using a 2560 x 1440 monitor ASUS PB277).
I've tried the dock with a G8 Fury and a Lenovo Thinkpad L480.
