My multi-function port just won't connect an external screen. I've tried multiple screens, multiple HDMI cords, refreshing both display and device drivers and now even upgrading to windows 11 from 10 with no success. I just have to save to USB for a presentation and use someone else's computer, and forget using a second monitor if you're working from the laptop. This adapter came in the box with my laptop so I really thought it should work.

Hi @Fly23
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I would like to help you with it.
May I know if you have made any changes to it?
When was the last time it was working fine?
Also, I would suggest you update all the drivers of your system and check if the issue persists. Here is a link that will help: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2857204-2362249-16
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your response.
May I know if you are able to connect all other devices like a phone to the same port?
Follow the steps below and let me know the outcome of it:
- Open the Device Manager.
- In the "Device Manager" window, click the + (plus sign) next to Universal Serial Bus controllers. You will see a list of the USB ports installed on your computer.
- Right-click a device and select Uninstall. Repeat for each device.
- Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install.
Let me know the outcome of it.
