Hello everyone. I have a big problem with my HP victus gaming laptop touchpad. By default it comes with Windows 11 but I really want to use windows 10 at least until october. The touchpad works well on Windows 11 but a few months ago I tried installing Windows 10 but the touchpad doesn´t work.
I tried several solutions:
-Install the drivers from HP Support for drivers, nothing, the wizard try to download the driver files but it closes and nothing happens, the touchpad still not work.
-Install all Windows updates and optional ones, nothing.
-Tried third party drivers for ELAN Touchpads, but nothing.
I dont know what else to try. I come here to see if anyone have a solution for this issue of compatibility, I think, or if the HP team can provide a comptible driver for ELAN touchpad in windows 10.
Thanks in advance!

@Ice-Witcher, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing issues with the ELAN Touchpad on your Victus by HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 after downgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 10. Since the touchpad works fine on Windows 11, this is likely a driver compatibility issue.
Here's how you can try resolving it:
Check for Windows 10 Driver Availability
HP officially supports Windows 11 for your model, and Windows 10 drivers may not be listed. However, you can still try the following:
- Visit the official HP driver page for your model: Official HP® Support
- Select Windows 10 (64-bit) from the OS dropdown (if available).
- If the ELAN Touchpad driver is not listed, proceed to the next step.
Use Windows 10 ELAN Driver from a Similar HP Model
Sometimes, drivers from similar HP models work. You can try downloading the ELAN Touchpad driver from another HP laptop that supports Windows 10 and uses ELAN hardware.
Install the Driver Manually
- Download the ELAN driver .exe or .zip file.
- If it's a .zip, extract it.
- Open Device Manager → Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on the touchpad (or unknown device if not recognized) → Update driver.
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers → Point to the extracted folder.
- Complete the installation and restart your laptop.
Enable Touchpad in BIOS
Sometimes the touchpad is disabled at the firmware level:
- Reboot your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
- Ensure the Touchpad is set to Enabled.
- Save and exit.
Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
Run a touchpad test to ensure the hardware is functional:
- Download from: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for answering me.
How can I search for another similar device? You mean another Victus with ELAN touchpad but compatible with windows 10? I ask you because I tried to find someones but, only found synaptics drivers. And it was difficult because for searching drivers I need the serial number, wich is difficult to get.
I tried with some laptops with an windows 10 compatible ELAN touchpad driver, but at the moment of installation always closes at the mid of the process like the original driver for my Victus.

@Ice-Witcher, Thank you for your response.
How to Find a Compatible ELAN Touchpad Driver for Windows 10
Option 1: Use a Known Compatible HP Model
Here’s a known HP model that uses ELAN touchpad drivers and supports Windows 10:
- HP Pavilion 15-cs3xxx series
- Go to: HP Pavilion 15-cs3000 Drivers
- Select Windows 10 (64-bit).
- Look under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices for ELAN Touchpad Driver.
Option 3: Manual INF Installation
If the installer closes midway, try this workaround:
- Extract the .exe file using a tool like 7-Zip.
- Go to Device Manager → Right-click on the unknown touchpad device.
- Choose Update driver → Browse my computer → Point to the extracted folder.
- Select Let me pick from a list → Have Disk → Browse to the .INF file inside the extracted folder.
- Install manually.
This bypasses the installer and forces Windows to use the driver files directly.
Additional Tip: Check Device Hardware ID
To confirm it's an ELAN device:
- Open Device Manager.
- Right-click the unknown device → Properties → Details tab.
- From the dropdown, select Hardware Ids.
- Look for something like ACPI\ELANxxxx.
I hope this helps!

Any of your posible solutions worked. The touchpad still no working. I also tried installing the HP pavilion elan drivers you told me but nothing.
What else can I do? There is no way to have the version of my elan drivers but compatible with windows 10?
