Hi, I am facing an issue with my HP Victus 16 gaming laptop. Initially, the screen started flickering intermittently, but now the laptop no longer powers on properly. The keyboard backlight and display do not turn on, and it appears completely shut down.
Occasionally, the screen and keyboard lights come on for a moment and then go off again. The charging light is the only indicator that remains on when the charger is connected. I also tried connecting the laptop to an external monitor, but there was no display output.

Hi @itachi-007_007,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP Victus 16 was initially showing screen flickering and now won’t power on, only the charging light stays on, and there’s no display on either the built-in screen or an external monitor. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Check Power Source
Ensure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device (like a lamp or phone charger).
If you’re using a surge protector or extension cord, try connecting the charger directly to the wall outlet.
Inspect the Charger & Cable
Make sure the charger is firmly connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
Look for any signs of fraying, bent pins, or damage on the cable and the charging port.
If available, try a compatible HP charger to rule out a faulty adapter.
Observe Charging Light Behavior
Note if the charging LED is steady or blinking.
A blinking light can indicate a power or battery-related fault, while a steady light usually means the laptop is receiving power.
Perform a Hard Reset
Disconnect the charger and remove all external devices (USB drives, headset, etc.).
Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
Reconnect the charger (leave other devices disconnected) and try to power on the laptop again.
Check for Signs of Life
After attempting to power on, watch for:
A brief keyboard backlight or fan spin.
Any flicker on the screen.
Beep sounds (if heard, they can indicate hardware errors).
If the lights come on briefly and then shut off again, it can point to an internal power or board issue.
External Monitor Test (for display issues)
Connect the laptop to a known-working external monitor using HDMI or DisplayPort.
Press Windows + P (or Fn + F4/F5, depending on the model) a few times to cycle through display modes.
If there’s still no display, the problem is likely not limited to the screen itself.
I hope this helps.
