I am experiencing a severe hardware failure (heavy artifacting, horizontal dashed blue lines, and logic blocking) on the built-in display of my HP Victus  laptop. To confirm that the issue is not software-related and that the GPU is fully functional, I have conducted the following comprehensive isolation tests:

Issue Characteristics and Observations:

  • External Monitor Test: When connected to an external monitor via HDMI, there are absolutely no issues; the display is flawless, and the GPU operates at full performance. The problem is isolated entirely to the laptop's built-in screen.

Refresh Rate (Bandwidth) Test: When the display refresh rate is lowered to 60Hz in Windows, the issue disappears, and the screen works fine sometimes. However, the moment the panel is set to its native 240Hz, the data bus fails, and the severe blue blocks/lines appear.

  • Power Cycle (Boot) Test: When the computer is restarted using the "Restart" command in Windows (Warm Boot), the issue occurs 100% of the time. However, when the computer is fully shut down and turned back on via the power button (Cold Boot), the issue sometimes temporarily resolves.

Troubleshooting Steps Performed:

  1. Performed a Hard Reset to discharge static electricity.

  2. Booted and tested the system in Safe Mode.

  3. Completely wiped all graphics drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode, followed by a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA Game Ready drivers.

  4. Updated the BIOS to the latest version using the official HP utility. Windows "Fast Startup" was disabled, and tests were repeated.
