I have an external monitor. When I connect it to my HP laptop via the Type-C port, the monitor only shows “No Signal.” However, when I connect the same monitor to another laptop through the Type-C port, it displays normally without any issues.
Please help.
P.S.: I already tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds, but it didn’t work.
P.S2:
When I connect the monitor to an external power source and then connect it to the laptop, it displays normally. Could the issue be that the Type-C port on the HP ZBook x G1i 16 does not support providing power output to external devices?

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Community!
Your HP laptop is experiencing issues when connecting to an external monitor via the USB Type‑C port. Since the monitor works with another laptop and also functions when powered externally, the issue may be related to the laptop’s settings or compatibility with the Type‑C connection.
According to the maintenance guide:
- USB‑C charging supports up to 100 W. For models requiring 150 W or more, please use an AC adapter with a barrel connector to ensure full performance and proper charging.
- USB‑C output supports up to 5 V, 3 A. Voltages above 9 V are not supported.
To troubleshoot:
- Update the graphics driver, available on the HP Support page.
- Check for a BIOS update on the HP Support website, as updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
We hope these steps help resolve the issue with your external monitor connection. If the problem persists after updating the graphics driver and BIOS, please share additional details about your laptop model and operating system so we can provide more tailored guidance.
