Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

As the title says, I have my HP Zbook Firefly G7 hooked into my HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock for business.  I am using the dock to connect two displays, both connected to the DisplayPort connectors.  I am running two monitors, both are 27-inch.  In many the second monitor is not detected, or it displays at the wrong resolution if it is detected, which is about 20 percent of the time.  The second monitor is a 1080 screen, but it will, when detected, output an odd resolution, such as 800x600 or some such thing.  I have been able to get the full resolution a handfull of times, but it's not consistent and I'm not certain what I did to get it.  I tried plugging the screens into another computer directly without using the dock and I get full resolution on both screens and at full resolution (the first one is 4k, and the one not detecting is 1080) so I don't think that this is a display issue.  Is it possible that there's a setting some place that I need to change in order for this to work?
