Hi guys,

my setup

Laptop: HP ZBook Studio G8 | NVIDIA RTX A3000 & Intel UHD Graphics | 3840 x 2160 4k 120 Hz
Docking station: HP USB-C Docking Station G5
Monitors: 2x HP E27k G5 4k 3840 x 2160 60 Hz (both bought May 2024 / both connected with 16k DisplayPort cable)

The problem
Unfortunately, I am not able to operate both monitors with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 60Hz or 30Hz via the docking station. When I turn them on, one monitor is displayed at 3840 x 2160 30Hz and the second monitor at 1920 x 1080 60 Hz and i cannot set the resolution of the second monitor higher. Unfortunately, switching one cable to HDMI didn't help either. If I connect both monitors directly to the laptop via USB-C, I can run them at 3840 x 2160 60Hz. Is it somehow possible to achive the same result using the docking station?

Thanks for any advice!

The specs of your machine is

And the dock supports

Please check a NOTE from its specs.

I highlighted my test using the G5 dock  with few different machines from HP's, Dell's and Lenovo few years ago.

Hello Banhien,

thanks for your reply. If I understand you correctly, the problem seems to be with the docking station. What surprises me, however, is that I connected an HP ZBook Fury 17.3 G8 i7-11850H, 2 x 16GB (32GB), 512GB NVMe SSD, RTX A3000 to the docking station for testing purposes and discovered that I could use both monitors with a resolution of 3840x2160. How can that be?

As mentioned on my previous reply, one unknown factor : what is the DP version of the USB-C port. From the table, you can see few different results.
