I've purchased and setup a brand new HP elitebook X360 G7 for a customer a few days ago, unfortunately when using the camera from any application we get a black circle around the image. Is this a hardware fault?
We have tried using just the local camera application and we still have the same issue, tried Zoom and Cisco webEx.
I have tried a different user profile, checked drivers for latest update and tried rolling back drivers with the same issue.
Please note I've used this image below from another post, they are having the same issue.

It is not normal.
It almost looks like packing fuzz stuck around the camera lens.
If that is the case, using a magnifying glass and peering closely at the camera lens might show the culprit in more detail.
What else?
Contact HP Support.
Camera should work and the view should not include black fuzzy bits.
HP Support - Technical Support for Devices in Warranty
Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices are registered and still in Warranty.
For the rest of us, this is not an option.
HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.

NOTE: Warranty date is updated after purchase and registration of the device.
If the device is not registered, or if there are other issues, submit a Warranty Dispute form.
NOTE 2: If the single-system-check fails to find your device, use the "multiple devices" method to
check single or multiple devices.
- If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
- Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
- Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
- Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
- Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
- When the page opens, Click View Details
