Hello,
As many users I have a problem with external display on my laptom. My screen is broken and I can't see any image on external display untill windows 8 boots. I tried pressing Fn+F4 while boot, I tried reseting BIOS to it's default settings with battery remove and pressing F9 while in main BIOS. I flashed new BIOS image from windows (at least I hope so), notebook restarted and after that powered off and on two times then windows booted again, that's why I guess I have the latest BIOS.
I disconnected internal screen from motherboard - no result, I connected it again and just disconnected LED display, letting camera be connected - still there.
Is there anything else I can try to make external display work in BIOS?
Thanks for your time!
BTW, I have clear image in windows after pressing Fn+F4.

Hello @eth1,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I came across your post about entering the BIOS from an external display, and wanted to help!
Unfortunately, from my understanding, the BIOS cannot be displayed on an external display. The external display will usually activate once the Operating System has started to load. You can try using Fn+F8 or Fn+10.
You can also try reviewing the following resource:
HP Laptop Broken Screen, how to enter bios in external monitor. (This is not a HP supported Web site).

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the BIOS cannot be displayed on external monitor and I don't understand why it is usually active only in OS? I had a lot of laptops and this hp g6 is the only one that cannot display BIOS on all connected displays. As I mentioned before, after windows boots I have signal on my external display, but I'm not satisfied!
I saw this video and I described in the first post that disconnecting internal screen didn't solve my problem.
This laptop has two video adapters Radeon HD 4000 and radeon HD 7600 series. And my guess is that while booting BIOS one of them is disabled. May be disabled adapter works with external display? And after booting windows Radeon driver enables it and I have image in windows? But how can I enable it in BIOS?

Hello @eth1,
Thank you for the quick reply!
As previously explained, I do not believe that the display can be enabled during BIOS. Please also have a look at the following documents about switchable graphics, and Dual AMD configurations:
HP Notebook PCs - Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs
HP Notebook PCs - Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Dual AMD GPUs
Unfortunately, you will be unable to change the BIOS to make the higher performance GPU the default. The BIOS is locked down to prevent damage to the system, by way of overheating. Which would happen if the more powerful chip was running all the time.
Best of luck!

I appreciate your help, but I can't mark your post as accept the solution.
I pretty much sure that every laptop should enable external screen while it is connected. May be it is uncommon for HP, but it is usually enabled on other laptops. I had a lot of laptops with broken screen and this is the only one that acts like this. BIOS SHOULD enable all hardware after POST and should display image on connected display.
Thanks again for your answer, I'll try my best to enable external display before\after my new screen arrive. May be that would help someone.

I found a solution!
The problem was because of UEFI enabled in BIOS.
After my new display arrived I disable UEFI and I saw image on external display in BIOS. The problem is that without internal display it is very hard to enable legacy BIOS because it asks a confirmation code like: "to save configuration enter code below: 5294+Enter".
Thanks!

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post @kwpainting,
I understand that you are looking to reload the OS and need assistance. I will be happy to help.
You can reinstall the OS or initiate the process for reloading the OS using the HP Recovery manager program available in all HP computer. Click here for assistance.
Boot order can be changed by tapping the F9 key on startup.
If the screen is broken, you can plug in an external monitor and be able to duplicate the screen.
If you want to know how the BIOS looks, you can use the simulator by selecting your computer in the list available.
Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for the help. Your information is somewhat helpful, but on the Pavilion g6 2248ca there is no way to get the secondary monitor to load until Windows loads. Which I can't do because I don't know how to reinstall it from the recovery manager that I can't see. This model seems to be the only one with the inability to load a second monitor during the boot process. Am I missing something? Thanks again

Thanks for the reply, BIOS is visible only on the primary screen. If the computer is still booting to the desktop, recommend you to open the display settings and try to make the secondary display as the primary display and check if the BIOS shows up on the external monitor.
Keep me posted.
