@techmagister, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Your laptop is equipped with an HDMI® 1.4b port, which offers several advanced features. Notably, HDMI 1.4b supports 4K video resolutions, allowing for stunning high-resolution displays that bring a movie theater-like experience to your home with exceptional depth, detail, and color. This includes support for 4096×2160 at 24 Hz, 3840×2160 at 24, 25, and 30 Hz, as well as 1920×1080 at 120 Hz. All of these resolutions and refresh rates are supported when using a High-Speed HDMI cable.
I hope this information helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I plugged in a MSI PRO MP251L E2 monitor which is 1080p & 120Hz via an URGREEN HDMI cable and now monitor's information display says its receiving 120Hz. So this laptop officially supports 120Hz @ 1080p via HDMI 1.4b.
