HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 IDS Base Model

I used to work with a Dell Laptop model G3 running Windows 11, which supported my LG ultrawide screen model 25UM58-P with a resolution of 2560 x 1080. However, after getting a new HP 17T-CN300 laptop with a Intel Xe graphics card and installing the drivers from HP, the laptop only offers a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080.

@cvmontuy

How do you connect them ? Your machine only has

  • (1) USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; SuperSpeed 5 Gbps signaling rate (data transfer only; charging or external monitors not supported)
  • (1) HDMI v1.4b port

The USB-C port is hopeless and the HDMI port supports (in theory):

In this case Intel Xe graphics card  is not in this picture.

Regards.

I am using a high speed hdmi cable and a direct connection from the LG monitor to the hdmi port of the laptop.

Using the same cable  and same monitor, connected to  an  old dell laptop, t works fine, using  the screen resolution of 2560 x 1080.

I have the same issue on my laptop. I even happily used my laptop for 2 months  with 2560x1440 and 144hz until

the latest BIOS its now forced to 1920x1080. HDMI 1.4b is not the reason. If the computer actually outputted 1.4b standard signal, it would offer higher resolutions in Windows menus. This is purpously bios made "feature" for the cheaper computers.
Support even told me that I "accidentally" was able to use higher resolution until the new bios. I'm a calm person but this is just not right for the paying customer. I would have not bought this computer if I knew it was capped to 1920x1080.........

I totally agree. I have spent about 20 hours configuring and installing my software and tools. That is the only reason I will not send this laptop back. I feel frustrated; I have been using laptops for 20 years now, and this is the first time that I have faced such limitations
