@careysa, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Stylus Pen Issues on HP Pavilion x360!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Pavilion x360's stylus pen is being detected without touching the screen, it might be due to a few common issues relating to stylus technology. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Potential Solutions for Active Stylus Pen Issues

Check the Battery:

  • Ensure the stylus pen battery is charged. Sometimes, low battery levels can cause detection issues.
  • For HP Chromebook x2 users, attach the pen to the charging location on the tablet and check the battery status.

Update Firmware:

  • You might need to update the firmware for your touch screen to resolve detection issues.
  • Go to HP Software & Driver Downloads, identify your product, and download the latest firmware update available for your touch screen.

Check Palm Rejection Settings:

  • Make sure that the stylus pen tip is 5 mm or farther from the point where your hand touches the screen. Incorrect palm position can lead to unintended detection.

Touch Screen Calibration:

  • Sometimes recalibrating the touch screen can resolve issues with stylus pen detection. Review your laptop's settings to see if a calibration option is available.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
