Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I cannot for the life of me find the setting to disable the pinch zoom.  Microsoft was so kind to update everything and kill off my personal settings, and while I looked on many different spots and intstructionals, following them let nowhere.  It's an ELAN touchpad and when I go to where you would expect to find this under Mouse or touchpad, there is no mention of the gestures/pinch zoom.  This is the most frustrating setting ever, I dont know who would like this.

@Mattdean76 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to disable the pinch-zoom option.

Follow the steps below and check if your issue is resolved.

  1. Press Start button on the keyboard, type Mouse & Touchpad settings and select the top most search result.
  2. From the window click on Additional mouse option.
  3. Click on the Device Settings tab and click on Settings button.
  4. From the left side panel, click Pinch Zoom option and uncheck the box Enable Pinch Zoom.
  5. Click on Apply and OK.
  6. Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

So I go to start, and then I can click on either Mouse Settings OR Touchpad Settings, it is not one option.  When clicking on "Additional Settings" under either option I get this.  There is no option for device settings anywhere under any of the tabs.pz1.png

Both have been completed.  It was the most recent microsoft update that messed with the settings.

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you perform the system reset.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!!

Why would I do a system reset to change a setting?  How is there not simply just a way to disable this setting?  That really makes no sense to me, since I know it can be done, I just don't know how to change this setting, because I can't find where it is.

Please read the 3rd message in this post as you advised me this same information and I told you what the result was.  I don't have an option for Mouse & Touchpad, it is one or the other, NOT BOTH.  I even posted screenshots for you.

We do not have the option to take the remote control of your computer and check.

I would suggets you contact our phone support and they will help you.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
