Hi @Nachoei,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP TrueVision HD webcam is experiencing issues where it appears to be continually turning on and off, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Check Connections:

  • If your webcam is an external device, ensure it is properly connected to your computer’s USB port. Try different USB ports to rule out any port issues.
  • If it is built-in, skip this step.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Simple but often effective, restarting your computer can resolve temporary glitches affecting the webcam.

Update Webcam Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Find your webcam under the "Cameras" or "Imaging devices" section, right-click on it, and select "Update driver".
  • Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software” and follow the prompts.
  • If Windows doesn’t find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the HP support website.

Reinstall Webcam Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your webcam and select "Uninstall device".
  • Restart your computer. Windows should reinstall the webcam driver upon reboot. If it doesn't, download the latest driver from the HP support site.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your operating system is up-to-date as updates can include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.
  • Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update and check for updates.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Sometimes power settings can cause issues with USB devices.
  • Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options.
  • Click on “Change plan settings” next to your selected plan.
  • Click on “Change advanced power settings”.
  • Expand the “USB settings” and then “USB selective suspend setting”.
  • Set it to Disabled and apply the changes.

Check the Webcam Software:

  • If you are using specific software to operate the webcam, ensure that it is up to date. Also, try using an alternative application (like Windows Camera app) to see if the issue persists.

Scan for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan to check for malware that might be interfering with your webcam.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Sometimes, the webcam can be disabled from the BIOS/UEFI settings. Restart your computer and enter BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC right after turning on your PC).
  • Look for settings related to integrated peripherals or devices and ensure the webcam is enabled.

Hardware Check:

  • If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the webcam.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
