HP Universal USB-C Multiport Hub
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I just bought a HP universal USB-C multiport HUB model 50h98aa#abl to use as a docking station to use multiple display on my laptop. The laptop I use is a HP Laptop 15-dy1008ca.

When I plug the HUB to the laptop via USB-c, the USB on the hub seems to be working but the grahphic port isnt. There is always an device unrecognized error that stays un the device. I already updated all the driver and it recognise the hub but not the displays.

Anyone got tips for me? Thank You!

Hi @berp1

This happens because the laptop's USB-C port does not support DisplayPort, and cannot connect displays.

External I/O Ports1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only); 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 headphone/microphone combo

Thank you for the quick answer.

on the HUB there is both a display port and a HDMI port should it work on HDMI? And if not do you have a recommendation so i can use 2 monitors with my laptop?

As I indicated, the USB-C port on the laptop is not DisplayPort compatible, so you cannot use the HDMI port on the dock for that reason.

only by purchasing a DisplayLink compatible dock (I am writing DisplayLink not DisplayPort).
