This is my daughters computer she is 16 and did not tell me she was not using it until the warranty expired.

It started with the screen having vertical lines but now there are so many of them that you can not see anything on the screen.  I read somewhere to hook it up to a monitor so you could see the screen and then do a full reset on the computer.  I went out bought the cord to connect it and you still can not view the screen.  I was thinking if it was the screen that was broken then I should be able to see it on the monitor.  now I am thinking it is something else.   I am not 100% sure what it is that is causing it now.  I am also not able to do a full reset because nothing is showing up on the screen for me to finish the steps needed for the full reset.  If anyone has had something similar to this can you please let me know how you were able to fix this? or if it isn't fixable.  Thank you!
