I just purchased the HP740pm monitor/docking station to use as an external monitor that can connect via a USB-C thunderbolt cable.

When i connect via the thunderbolt cable, the laptop dings like it has recognized the monitor, however, it does not begin charging the laptop, nor does it display anything on the monitor.

I have two of these monitors at both home and work and have the same issue.

I first thought it was a laptop issue, but the same thing happens with my wife's laptop.

I have replaced the cables and no resolution.

I have updated the BIOS and the drivers for the laptop and the USBs.

Any ideas why this is not working?  It is driving me crazy and has taken hours away from my productivity.

My only solution is to not use the thunderbolt connection....plug the laptop power cable into that port....and connect to the monitor via HDMI cable.  incredibly furstrating!

I can NOT find HP740pm monitor/docking. What is it ? Note: Not all USB-C ports are the same, they may NOT be compatible.
