I bought this laptop 4 months ago for work and have been having random problems with it ever since.
I disabled/removed all the bloatware to make it just run properly, but it honestly can't manage that anyway. It 'freezes' here and there when watching videos on Youtube, lags when searching/clicking through the File Explorer, the fan turns into a jet engine at the thought of two programs open at the same time. I don't do anything intensive like gaming, video editing, 3d art, etc.
Recently, It's been crashing (unresponsive black screen) or glitching out (brief black screen or color distortion/artifacting) without cause. I've already restarted, reset windows 11, updated everything, and run the diagnostic tests. Everything comes back 'Passed', but clearly that's not the case here and apparently it's only getting worse.

Hi @Pop1919,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15. Freezing and screen glitching can be frustrating problems to deal with, but I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue. Here are some steps you can try.
- Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Make sure to save your work before restarting.
- Update your graphics driver: Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can cause screen glitches. Visit the HP support website and download the latest graphics driver for your specific model. Install the driver and restart your laptop.
- Run a virus scan: Malware or viruses can also cause freezing and screen glitches. Use a reputable antivirus software to scan your laptop for any potential threats. If any viruses are detected, follow the instructions provided by the antivirus software to remove them.
- Check for overheating: Overheating can cause performance issues and screen glitches. Ensure that your laptop is not overheating by placing it on a flat, hard surface that allows proper ventilation. You can also use compressed air to clean out any dust or debris from the vents.
- Adjust power settings: Sometimes, power settings can affect the performance of your laptop. Open the Power Options in the Control Panel and set it to the "Balanced" or "High Performance" mode to ensure optimal performance.
- Check for software conflicts: Certain software applications or driver conflicts can lead to freezing and glitches. Try uninstalling any recently installed software or drivers that might be causing the issue and see if the problem persists.
- Perform a system restore: If the freezing and screen glitches started occurring after a recent software installation or system update, you can try performing a system restore to a previous point when your laptop was functioning properly. This will revert your system back to that specific state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
