HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15m-ed0013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought my laptop 1 year and 8 months ago and this week I opened it up at school and I heard a grinding/snapping noise and the plastic hinge broke and now the screen is coming off the laptop and I am unable to close the laptop. My warranty was of course 1 year and I was told the cost for repair would be $400. I took my laptop to a repair place as I need it for school and do not have an extra $400 lying around to repair my computer and do not have a spare and they said this is a common problem they see with HP Envy that they cannot repair it has to be sent to HP. I have since found much evidence of other people having the same issue and I called to file a complaint against the manufacturing of the laptop because I do not want other students to be suckered into paying $800 for a laptop that only lasts 1 year and 8 months. I was told that I could not place a manufacturing complaint and that they could only record customer service related complaints. Has anyone tried to repair this on their own? If so can you please provide any tips? Thanks in advance.
