HP Pavilion - 14-ce3609sa
Microsoft Windows 11

I am having real problems trying to disable my Touchpad on my HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11. I cannot find any solution after many hours of looking.

I've seen a solution to edit regedit but only for an ELAN Touchpad. I am at a loss what to do. There is no obvious option in Win11 Settings to locate the Touchpad or to disable it on when the USB external mouse is attached. Has anyone any ideas? I'm thinking my only solution is to purchase a Dell laptop.

@Walts22 -- do the F1-through-F12 keys on your keyboard have TWO labels per key?

If so, hold-down the "FN" key (bottom-left of your keyboard) and tap one of those 12 keys - picking the one that "possibly" is the correct one.  The "non-correct" labels could be volume up/down, brightness up/down, sleep, single/dual-monitor mode, and so on. Eliminate those buttons from your selection.

Thank you so much. It was FN F5 that stopped the touchpad. There is no sign on the button to indicate this but it did the trick.

I couldn't use the laptop with the touchpad as I kept deleting huge pieces of typing by accident.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found that FN F5 switched off the ClickPad which I was delighted to achieve.

Then last week I got a Win 11 patch automatically applied now I can no longer deactivate my SMBus ClickPad.

When I delete the driver I am forced to restart the laptop and the horrible ClickPad reappears

How can I get rid of this ClickPad for ever please? I absolutely hate it.

Previously laptops have allowed a disable tick box but not HP Pavilion 14 with Windows 11

It is driving me crazy.
