Hi @Swan11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If disabling the driver didn’t stop the touchpad on your HP 17.3" Laptop, try these steps.

Disable the Touchpad in Settings:

  • Open Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Look for an option to turn off the touchpad when a mouse is connected or an option to turn it off completely.

Disable in Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting it.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Look for HID-compliant touchpad or a similar option. Right-click and select Disable (not Uninstall).

Disable via the BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (typically by pressing F10 or Esc during startup).
  • In the BIOS menu, look for an option related to the touchpad or internal pointing device and disable it.
  • Save and exit the BIOS.

Disable Using Keyboard Shortcut:

  • Some HP laptops have a keyboard shortcut (often Fn + a function key, like F6 or F7) to toggle the touchpad on/off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
