Hi @Zu90, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop has a 1-inch black border around the screen that prevents you from utilizing the full display, here are some troubleshooting steps to fix it:

Adjust Display Scaling and Resolution

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Scroll down to Display resolution and ensure it's set to the recommended resolution.
  3. If it's not, select the highest resolution available.
  4. Click Apply and check if the screen fills up.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Sometimes, outdated or incorrect graphics drivers can cause display issues.

  1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters.
  3. Right-click on your graphics card (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  5. Restart the laptop and check if the screen is now edge-to-edge.

If updating doesn’t work, try:

  • Uninstalling the driver by right-clicking it and selecting Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Adjust Scaling in Graphics Control Panel

Depending on your GPU, you might need to adjust the scaling settings:

For Intel Graphics:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and open Intel Graphics Command Center.
  2. Go to Display settings.
  3. Look for Scaling and set it to Full-Screen.

For NVIDIA Graphics:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Under Display, go to Adjust desktop size and position.
  3. Select Scaling and choose Full-screen.

For AMD Graphics:

  1. Right-click on the desktop and open AMD Radeon Software.
  2. Go to Display.
  3. Enable GPU Scaling and set the scaling mode to Full Panel.

Check for Incorrect Overscan/Underscan Settings

  • If you’re using an external monitor, check the Monitor settings or On-Screen Display (OSD) for an option related to scaling or aspect ratio.
  • Some HDMI connections may cause underscan. If so, adjust HDMI scaling in your GPU settings.

After applying these fixes, your HP laptop screen should display fully from edge to edge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
