Hi @Zu90, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop has a 1-inch black border around the screen that prevents you from utilizing the full display, here are some troubleshooting steps to fix it:
Adjust Display Scaling and Resolution
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Scroll down to Display resolution and ensure it's set to the recommended resolution.
- If it's not, select the highest resolution available.
- Click Apply and check if the screen fills up.
Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers
Sometimes, outdated or incorrect graphics drivers can cause display issues.
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on your graphics card (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Restart the laptop and check if the screen is now edge-to-edge.
If updating doesn’t work, try:
- Uninstalling the driver by right-clicking it and selecting Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
Adjust Scaling in Graphics Control Panel
Depending on your GPU, you might need to adjust the scaling settings:
For Intel Graphics:
- Right-click on the desktop and open Intel Graphics Command Center.
- Go to Display settings.
- Look for Scaling and set it to Full-Screen.
For NVIDIA Graphics:
- Right-click on the desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Under Display, go to Adjust desktop size and position.
- Select Scaling and choose Full-screen.
For AMD Graphics:
- Right-click on the desktop and open AMD Radeon Software.
- Go to Display.
- Enable GPU Scaling and set the scaling mode to Full Panel.
Check for Incorrect Overscan/Underscan Settings
- If you’re using an external monitor, check the Monitor settings or On-Screen Display (OSD) for an option related to scaling or aspect ratio.
- Some HDMI connections may cause underscan. If so, adjust HDMI scaling in your GPU settings.
After applying these fixes, your HP laptop screen should display fully from edge to edge.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
