How do I get my 2nd monitor to work via USB-C to HDMI?

I want to connect my HP Pavilion 14-ce3510sa Laptop to my HP 24fw monitor via the USB-C port via a USB-C to HDMI Cable. 

The HDMI to HDMI connection works, but when I try using a USB-C to HDMI cable the monitor doesn't find a signal.

I've tried a few different USB-C to HDMI cables to try and rule out a cable issue and none appear to work,

Is there a setting I need to change to make this work?

I need to connect 2 monitors to the laptop, so my only option with this laptop appears to be to connect 1 via the HDMI port and one via the USB-C port. Any help gratefully received!

It ONLY has 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

• Charge your machine
• Connect to an external monitor with / without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to use 2 or more external monitors, please use an DisplayLink Certified dock such as

Much appreciated and thanks for the quick response. With the docking station do you know if you are able to manage different content on each display, i.e. Extend rather than duplicate?  Marc
