When trying to use the keyboard my wrist either rest or hit the touch-pad causing the cursor to jump and my typing all over the place. I need the touch-pad turned off at my discretion. How do I do this? I have tried most of the suggestions posted on this site and so far have only been able to turn off the touch-screen function, which I have not bee able to get back.

There are basically 3 options:
- disable it through keyboard shortcut FN+<key for touchpad>
- disable it through the touchpad driver - depends on your model. If Synaptics, look up Synaptics in windows start menu. An app should pop up and you can start and Deactivate your touchpad there.
- get into BIOS and disable it there.
