HP Notebook 15-dy1085nr

Hi there! I am adding two additional screens to my set up.  I can use the HDMI port on the laptop just fie when I only had one additional screen.  I bought a docking station with a USB C cord and my laptop won't recognize it.  I have tried adapters, all systems are up to date, all items work fine, just cannot get the dual monitors to work from the C port.  Anyone out there know how to change that C port from storage to functional?

Its specs

         https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c06463299

It ONLY has 1 hopeless USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

Hi Banhien,

Thank you for getting back to me.  I purchased several adapters, cords, a docking station and then a new laptop.  I tried to talk with support tonight and they said I have to go through their paid service to talk wo a professional that can help me.  I just bought a new computer and they want (HP Support) to allow someone to remote in and I pay them.  Not going to happen.  I have no idea how to extend to 2 displays and am so frustrated with all of this.  The USB-C did not recognize the docking station I bought.  The adapter you referenced is no longer available.  The new laptop is HP Laptop 15-dy2034nr (544Q4UA).  It would be great if you could please recommend or guide me on how to get this to work.

Thank you!
