Please follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

Hi MrRobot,
Thanks for your offer of help. I have not made any hardware changes. I just got this laptop. I've loaded MS Office 2013 and it worked fine. I've loaded a few other things but not a lot and everything seems to work fine. That is until I tried to install some of my favorite games. I found out they require 800x600 screen resolution and this laptop does not have that option.
Sorry it took so long to respond but the BIOS download took over four hours. I have a very slow internet connection. And that's an understatement. 🙂
I updated the Network Adapter Driver and the Display Adapter driver yesterday but, just for you, I did the Display Adapter again today and it came back with the message that the most current driver was already installed. That was what I expected to see. The 800x600 option still did not appear. The Display Adapter is an Intel UHD Graphics 620. I'm not very techie so I hope it is possible to make these changes to this adapter.
I used the steps you provided for updating the Display Adapter Driver. The resolution was already set for the recommended setting. The 800x600 option did NOT appear on the list of settings. Then I went into the Properties for the adaper and clicked on the List All Modes and the 800x600 option did NOT appear there either.
Then I updated the BIOS using the link you sent me. The computer rebooted but the 800x600 option was still not available.
Then I updated the Graphics Driver using the link you sent me. I then rebooted the computer but the 800x600 option still does not show up.
I appreciate your step by step instructions. They were very clear.
I can't believe the option for 800x600 screen resolution would be removed with no way to get it back. Since I wrote my original question to this group, I've found a number of other games that also require it. I'm almost afraid to try to install the design software that I use.
Since none of this worked, what else can we do? I dread the thought that I am going to have to start saving for another laptop considering I just bought this one.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I hope to hear more from you very soon.
Regards, Carole

It looks like you were interacting with @A4Apollo, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Jeet_Singh & I'm at your service.
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I understand you have tried updating the Bios a well as the drivers and still having the issue with the screen resolution.
IN this scenario, I would suggest you could try to change the resolution in the game and check if that helps.
If the option is not there in the display settings, then this could be a possible hardware issue.
I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Sorry to say the link in your message sent me to the hp website where I'd already been days before and hadn't found anything helpful. How would I find out about warranties, if you think this is a hardware problem. Thanks for your help.
