HP Probook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I didn't fine answer on the forum so... I have old 4540s with damaged screen. I want connect it to TV and use for watching movies. But here are some issues:

1) in BIOS i can't set HDMI output by default so I'll need to push Fn+F4 every time on load. This is inconvenient because

2) i can't push Fn key on USB keyboard so i need to push Fn+F4 on laptop's original keyboard.

Is there a way to unlock "Default video output" in BIOS or declared Fn key?

Your TV should be monitor 2 by default. Please under Display options, select 2 as  main display it will become 1 as shown

Note: my HP notebook with a Dell monitor (in your case should be the TV).

System will automatically switch back to notebook screen when you remove the HDMI cable (or disconnected).

Regards.

Yep, that works while Windows works. But I'll need on-board keyboard and on-board display to re-install Windows/Linux in case it goes down. And I don't fill like keeping damaged screen connected to the system. I would like to remove mydamaged screen away and I would like to remove the keyboard (to increase cooling and decrease cleaning) as well.

I guess the answer to my question is here.

To make the long story short: HP doesn't care.
