Synaptics hat this function in a driver - but that's gone: I could tab on the touchpad twice and the touchpad was OFF. I need this function back - or something close. I write a lot and the mistakes made by the touchpad-jumps are horrible. I know that I could also use the mouse - but this is not a real solution. Any help?

@interwerk Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you would like to disable the touchpad.
Follow the below steps and you'll be good to go 🙂
-
On some touchpads, you can turn on or off the Touchpad by double-tapping in the upper left corner of the Touchpad. Double tap to turn the Touchpad on, repeat to turn the Touchpad off.

Perform a hard reset by following the steps in the HP document Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset (in English). A hard reset clears the driver instructions. Your computer rereads all instructions from the drivers and software stored in the Operating System which can solve some problems.
-
Be sure you have the latest drivers for your Touchpad. Use the following steps to install the latest drivers.
-
Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads web page. Enter your computer model number and then click Go.
-
Select your computer model from the list of results.
-
Select your operating system from the drop-down menu and then click Next.
-
Scroll down to select the driver category Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.
-
Click the Download button next to the appropriate TouchPad or ClickPad driver. The file downloads to your Downloads folder
-
Open your Downloads folder and double-click to install the latest driver. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

This is, what I wantet (the doubleclick) but what is not working with the driver I get. I installed allready many drivers - but I don't get the driver, where I can do this on my latop. So your answer is the thing I know and I have done bevore ... But I need a solution, not the basic instruction. The problem is, that the new drivers of Synaptics are completely overtaken by Windows 10. So I can't make any changes for the touchpad - only in the Windows settings. And my questions was to get a new driver or solution ...
That's why I posted here the product-infos:
14 days for an answer like this, is not really a helpful support thing. So there are no thanks for that! ... (what a curious part in your answer ...???)

Thank you for the update.
Please perform the touchpad test and check.
1. Power off the PC and make sure that it is completely powered off.
2. Press the power button and the moment you press the power button immediately start tapping F2 key, you should see the system diagnostics screen.
3. Look for the component test, under that all the hardware will be listed, please choose Touchpad and initiate the quick test.
Note: If it fails it will generate a 24 digits alphanumeric failure id, please capture that.
If the test is passed, please try creating a new user account on your computer.
Go to http://hp.care/2dWJKgW and follow the steps to create a new user account.
Have a nice day!!

Ok, I controlled everything - all is fine - no wrongs there. The driver has the version 19.5.35.46 - should be ok. But I can't find the device settings in the mouse-menue. Normally - and I had this by installing a synaptics-driver with the last HP-Laptop - I could activate this. Now it's not shown - I can install and make new users as I want ...
There I can activate this device menu - probably in the registry ... or so ...?

I understand your concerns.
In that case, I would suggest try creating a new user account on your computer.
Go to http://hp.care/2dWJKgW and follow the steps to create a new user account.
If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset.
Have a nice day!!

Oh, please! I saied that I can create a new user and the problem is still there. This is boring.
Where in the registry or in the deeper systemsettings can I turn that menue on?
Send me the right driver or give me a better support.
System reset: Sorry, I have a installation witch takes 48 hours to reintall. There should be a better idea to just bring that driver menu into the system ... If you want to clean your room, your also not build a new house ...

Doesn't work. I installed all drivers, but my Windows is not acepting any Synaptics-Programms. They are all like not installed in the system. The touch pad itself works find - I just can't makte Settings - over the Windows-Settings. So the only missed thing is to switch off the touch pad. This is so silly and sick.
I have no idea - but to reinstall the hole Laptop, just to get a "switch-off"-cklick is a bit overdone. But the problem is since I got this laptop. So ... I think there is a bug in the Windows-Synaptics-Compatibility. It's about who (driver) is responsible for what ...
So, it's not a "normal" driver-problem ... I think. No one with the same problem?
