Envy 17t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Got new Envy 17t laptop, which came with Intel (R) Real Sense (TM) SR300 camera. I would like to take a picture using this built in camera and do not know how to turn it on? This function was very easy on my old HP Pavilion with Vista. Can someone please tell me how to turn this camera on to take a picture?

Many thanks.

Hello, @beroun1 - Hope you are well 🙂

I understand that you are trying to take a picture using the IR camera on your new HP Envy. You can use the YouCam to take pictures on your Windows 10 machine.

Here is a wonderful document to help you setup the YouCam and to a picture using the IR camera: http://hp.care/2pdHNV8

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Thanks, works fine.

But I am just surprised that the HP laptop has the hardware, which does not have associated software to run it and customer needs to download it. It is like if you would purchase a laptop with speakers and these would not work without the later downloaded application.

I think all the hardware should have the associated application installed by manufacturer.

Thanks anyway, the camera works fine now.

Hello, @beroun1

Thanks for the update & Great stuff! Glad to know that you were able to fix the issue 🙂

Also, the YouCam is the default drivers for the camera on your HP notebook. It normally is factory installed on any HP PC with the built-in camera.

Visit us again if you have any concerns!

Thank you again and may you also have a great day and even better tomorrow 🙂
