Hp 255 G5
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)
A Hp 255 G5 laptop brightness has not been adjustable ever since it was bought: it was a FreeDos system which was earlier loaded with windows 10 but later reloaded with windows 8 Pro. All effort (including display driver update) to get the issue resolved has proved abortive and i don't know what to do anymore. I need someone to help me out. Thanks in advance.

Hi:

That model is not supported by HP or AMD for W8 32 or 64 bit, which is why the graphics isn't working.

If you want it to work, then you need to install a supported operating system (W7, W10) 64 bit.

No one can help you with the W8 32 bit issue, as it is unsolvable.

If you have, or can upgrade from W8 x64 to W8.1 64 bit, AMD does have a graphics driver for the GPU your model has.

I appreciate your suggestion @Paul_Tikkanen; however, even when the system was running on W10 the result was the same.

It should have worked fine if you were running W10 64 bit and had installed the graphics driver on the support page.
