  • Is the camera shown in File Explorer?
  • Do you receive any error message?

Try few steps recommended below and check if it helps.

Go to  Settings > Privacy

Also, try the steps recommended below.

  1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
  2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  3. Enter the below command to reinstall the Camera app.

@Jatney,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. I see from your post that you're having issues with the webcam not working properly on your HP Pavilion notebook.

Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What is the product number of the notebook? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the webcam drivers?

Did you try to update the Bios?

In the meantime, I would suggest you go ahead and follow the steps suggested in the support document for

Link 1: HP PCs - Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 10, 😎

Link 2: HP Notebook PCs - Testing a Webcam Using YouCam (Windows 10, 8, 7)

@Jatney,

Thank you for replying,

After reviewing your post thoroughly, I would suggest you go ahead and uninstall the drivers which are listed under Imaging devices (especially which are related to camera).

Once done, restart the computer and let the computer search for the drivers automatically and install it.

Once done, now try to launch webcam and check if that works.

Please take your time and get back to me with the results,

I'll be awaiting your response and would be glad to help.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
