When I unplug my power cord to my laptop the screen flickers. It only happens when I game or download something. I have had this problem for months and I wanna fix it.   Thank you, Enzo

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see that you're experiencing display flickering issue when ac adapter is unplugged,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you checked if the screen flickers in the Bios?
  • Have you tried to use an external monitor to check if the issue persists?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the screen flickers.

1. Turn off your computer
2. Make sure you have connected the power cable
3. Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the  F10 button repeatedly

If you don’t have an alternate monitor, I recommend checking if the issue appears on the BIOS screen (restart the computer and tap on F10 to access BIOS)

This would confirm if it's either a hardware failure or an issue with the graphics card drivers so we may reinstall and update the drivers to fix the issue as mentioned above.

If in Bios, the screen does not flicker then it is do with the drivers. Also updating the Bios, Chipset and Display drivers.
Please follow the steps from below:

  • Uninstall the graphics card drivers from Device manager:
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Display adapters>then select the display drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the graphics drivers.
  • Please check the box that says “delete the software for this device”.
  • Once done, restart the computer and then update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link. Please select the correct operating system.

Once done, restart the computer and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

The screen does flicker in the bios.

I have been using my omen monitor the Laptop screen only flickers when unpluged.

I have had this issue ever since I got my hp omen laptop back from repair for hard drive failure.

Hopefully this helps!
