Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All

So I made A forum like this a few months back but i never got anywhere so i decided to start fresh and try to better explain my situation.

I Have a Pavilion Dv7 that has been working perfectly fine until a couple months ago when my drivers for the amd graphics card started acting up. I booted into safe mode and disabled the amd display adapter and presto it work perfectly until i relised that my amd graphics card was not work, i was running entirely on my intel hd graphics card.

Ive done a complete Reboot of my laptop even reinstalled my Windows -Even did a complete format on my hard drives.

Still No dice, so then i thought to myself that the card may have been faulty, so i did a complete hardware diagnosis and still no luck so either the device is working perfectly fine or bios isnt picking up the card as well. Please understand that the display adapter isnt popping up in device manager (even in hidden devices in device manager). Ive also tried installed the latest drivers for the graphics card but if bios cant pick it up neither will amds software.

So Ive done my deep research on the net and Ive tried almost everything i could find related to my issue (and not related) and still couldnt fix my issue.

Any help in fixing my laptop would be GREATLY appreciated, im a gamer and this amd graphics card is the most important part on this laptop without it, its practically junk and i really don't want to throw this laptop away.

Note: Ive also tried the BIOS Reset, NO DICE -__-

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion dv7-6051ei Entertainment Notebook and the AMD graphics card drivers do not work The Display adapters is absent in the device manager. You have been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills and valuable patience. Kudos to you for that. You have done a remarkable job in troubleshooting this issue.

During my research, I found a few steps that should help in isolating ad fixing this issue:

  • Click here to download and install the HP Support Assistant.
  • Click My devices on the top of the HP Support Assistant window, and then click Updates in the window for your device.

Figure : Updates in the My PC box

    The Updates window opens.

  • If HP Support Assistant detects updates, a list of updates displays in the Updates available window.

    Figure : Updates window

     Updates window
  • To check for recent updates, click Check for updates and messages.

HP Support Assistant connects to the HP servers and performs the following actions:

    • Downloads messages and updates

    • Gathers configuration information

    • Analyzes your computer system

    • Prepares an action list

If HP Support Assistant finds updates, they display in the Updates available window.

    Updates available window
    • To postpone or delete a current update, use the following steps.

      1. Next to the message you want to postpone, click Remind me.

      2. Select Tomorrow, One week, or One month, depending on when you want to be reminded.

    • To delete an update, click  next to the update.

    • To install the update now, click the Install now icon () next to the update.

    • To review completed and postponed actions, scroll down to the Action log section.

You may restart the laptop after the HP Support Assistant finishes installing any updates.

If the issue persists then you may download and run the the AMD tool as it automatically detects and installs the required drivers: https://hp.care/2rd1ADb

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know how it goes.

Cheers! 🙂

Thanks MKazi for the reply

Unfortanetly your advice on using the hp Assistance software didnt work either.Capture.PNG

As you can see the software only picks up the intel Card not the AMD

Also please note that i don't think the software will pick up updates for the windows 10 version of the pavilion dv7 since there hasn't been any releases for window 10.(old laptop and all)

Thank you for your reply.

Do you see "other devices" listed in the device manager?

Please share a screen shot of the device manager in your laptop.

Secondly, I see that there are no drivers available for Win10. There are only drivers available for Windows 7. That could be one of the reasons why the AMD drivers are absent.

Thanks! 🙂

No, no "other devices" in device manager and no hidden devices.

Also I've downloaded the and driver's for the amd graphics card but like I said before the software doesn't recognize any amd hardware and failed to install it
