HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f2000 (74R50AV)

Hello

I have a Spectre laptop and when I am not looking at the screen, it closes it. It happens when I am also watching a movie. Briefly, it would shut the screen when I am not looking at it.

How can I disable that?

@Lebeau, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Spectre laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Spectre laptop might be experiencing issues related to a feature that involves the camera sensing your presence. Some laptops have features designed to save power by dimming or shutting off the screen when it detects that you are not looking directly at it. This feature can usually be adjusted or disabled in the settings.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this issue:

Check Windows Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Check if there are any specific applications utilizing the camera for presence detection and adjust their settings or turn them off.

Review Power Management Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
  • Ensure that any power-saving settings are configured according to your preferences and do not inadvertently affect screen behavior.

HP Software:

  • If your HP Spectre is equipped with HP-specific software for presence detection, open the HP Command Center or HP Support Assistant to check for any features related to display behavior when not looking directly at the laptop.
  • You may also try updating or reinstalling HP drivers and utilities using the HP Support Assistant to ensure all software is functioning correctly.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
