I got a new laptop yesterday and I have been having issues with the display.  When windows auto install intel R graphics adapter,  it keeps failing and recovering,  while the driver I downloaded from hp page says the driver does not support the processor type

Hi:

According to the quickspecs below, the 1040 G3 has one of the Skylake processors, and the Intel HD 520 graphics (page 4).

I can't help you with why the Windows or HP graphics installations are failing, but here is a way you can manually install the latest Intel HD graphics driver if you want to do that.

Create a system restore point so you can go back to the current driver state just in case the updated driver does not work to your expectations.

Download the ZIP file version of the latest Intel graphics driver from the link below...

Version: 26.20.100.6912 (Latest) Date: 6/19/2019

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28888/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=126789

Unzip the file to its folder. Don't do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>iigd_dch (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.

Be patient as it could take up to a couple of minutes for the driver to install.

When the installation is complete, restart the PC.
