Hi @picklelyss515,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Ensure Proper Battery Installation

  • Remove the pen cap and make sure the positive end of the battery is facing the pen tip.
  • Reinstall the cap and check if the pen works.

2. Check the Pen Tip

  • Inspect the pen tip to ensure it is not damaged or loose. A loose or broken tip can prevent the pen from working properly.
  • Replace the pen tip if necessary.

3. Pair the Pen

  • Turn on your HP Envy x360.
  • The pen should automatically pair when you touch the tip to the screen.
  • If it doesn't pair automatically, try manually connecting the pen via Bluetooth settings if your model supports it.

4. Calibrate the Touchscreen

  • In Windows, search for and open "Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input."
  • Select "Calibrate" and then select "Pen Input."
  • Use the pen to tap the cross-hairs that appear on the screen.

5. Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your device, including firmware updates for the touchscreen.
  • Make sure that the Detected operating system is correct and select your operating system if necessary.
  • Install the firmware and drivers by following the on-screen instructions.

6. Test with Another Application

  • Try using the pen with different applications, such as Microsoft OneNote or Fresh Paint, to determine if the issue is application-specific.

7. Verify Touchscreen Configuration

  • Confirm that your touchscreen is configured to accept pen input:
    • For Windows 10: Go to Control Panel -> Pen and Touch, and ensure the settings are correct.
    • For Chromebooks (if applicable): Check the service tag for EMR Active Pen Support.

8. Ensure No Other Devices Interfere

  • Make sure no other Bluetooth or wireless devices are interfering with the pen's connection.

I hope this helps.
