HI @ewinche

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that y ou want to disable tap to click , and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Please try these steps:

To disable the "Tap to Click" feature on your HP ENVY Laptop (17m-cg0013dx), follow these steps:

Method 1: Using the Touchpad Settings

Open Settings:

  • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings menu.

Go to Devices:

  • Click on Devices.

Select Touchpad:

  • In the left sidebar, click on Touchpad.

Disable Tap to Click:

  • Look for the option labeled Tap with a single finger to click or similar.
  • Toggle the switch to Off.

Method 2: Using the Control Panel

Open Control Panel:

  • Press the Windows key and type Control Panel, then hit Enter.

Select Mouse:

  • Click on Hardware and Sound, then select Mouse.

Go to Touchpad Settings:

  • If you have a tab labeled Touchpad, click on it (this may vary based on your touchpad driver).
  • Look for an option related to Tap to Click.

Disable the Feature:

  • Uncheck the box next to Tap to Click or disable it from the settings.

Apply Changes:

  • Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

Method 3: Using Synaptics or ELAN Settings (if applicable)

If your laptop uses Synaptics or ELAN touchpad drivers:

Access the Touchpad Settings:

  • Right-click on the touchpad icon in the system tray or search for Mouse settings in the Start menu.

Locate the Tap Settings:

  • Navigate to the Tapping or Gestures section.

Disable Tap to Click:

  • Uncheck or disable the option for tap to click.

Save and Exit:

  • Apply the changes and exit the settings.

Note : If you don’t see the options as described, ensure your touchpad drivers are up to date. You can do this through the HP Support website thats is https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16 or Windows Update.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
