I accidentally deleted my ELAN Touchpad Driver and I was wondering how can I get it back?

Hi:

You can reinstall it from the link below...

This package provides the driver that enables the Elan Touchpad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.

I noticed the other day that I didn't have the Elan touchpad on my system , it seems after the windows 1903 update ! only the ps/2 mouse so couldn't scroll/click on items etc and so as I usually do (started fettling and accidentally deleted the Elan icon from the start menu, Grrrrrrrr! So after a few hours of going into device manager and googling etc I managed to get it back but couldn't get it to 'PIN TO START ' only have it as a desktop shortcut. So fettled again and promptly lost it, again!! after I downloaded a driver update from HP support website it seemed to disappear. Fortunately I came across this link on the HP support site and now have it back. Still can't get it back into the start menu as when I right click it doesn't have the option to 'PIN to START' or put it on the start tile thingy , so will just have to leave it as it is ….unless you can advise how I get it back to the start menu list ? But thanks for the link to at least get it back ! cheers Marky

I wanted to disable the touchpad when using my ergonomic usb mouse, lost that option w the 1903 update (new used HP Notebook - 17t-by000 CTO  )

Your drivers worked like a charm, tho had to use the additional options panel.

Thank you very much!!

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

The previous drivers that caused the problem were the newer ones installed by HP SA and Windoze update.

HP SA works without saying what it's doing. No accountability.   I don't trust it because of that. It breaks as many things as it fixes.
