I accidentally dropped my laptop, the upper right corner of the keyboard is bent and one of the USB ports is broken. I was wondering if there is anyway I can repair this and where I should go to get it repaired.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
You can follow these steps to repair your HP ENVY x360 after the accidental drop:
1. Assess the Damage:
- If the chassis is bent, it might need professional realignment or replacement.
- A broken USB port may require a motherboard or I/O board replacement, depending on the model.
- Check for any other functional issues (screen, keyboard, trackpad, etc.).
2. Repair Options:
a) HP Authorized Service Center (Recommended)
Since structural and port damage involves hardware repairs, an HP Authorized Service Center is the best option. You should:
- Visit the HP Support website to locate an authorized repair center in your area.
- Contact HP customer support or go to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/check-warranty, to check if your laptop is still under warranty (physical damage is usually not covered, but who knows: they may offer paid repair services).
b) Third-Party Repair Shops
- If HP’s repair is too costly, you can look for a trusted local repair shop* that specialize in HP laptops.
- Ensure the shop has experience with chassis repairs and USB port replacements.
3. DIY Repair (If Skilled and Confident):
- If you have experience with laptop disassembly, you might try replacing the USB board (if separate from the motherboard).
- Chassis bending repair is tricky: forcing it back into shape can cause more damage.
Next Steps:
I recommend that you contact HP support or visit an HP Authorized Service Center first. If needed, you may explore third-party repair options for cost-effective solutions:
* Look for Well-Reviewed Local Repair Shops:
If an HP service center isn’t an option, look for highly-rated third-party repair shops:
- Google Search & Maps: Search "HP laptop repair near me" and check Google Reviews.
- Facebook Marketplace & Local Forums: Many cities have tech repair groups where users share their experiences.
- Reddit & Tech Communities: Ask for recommendations on r/techsupport or local subreddits.
1. Verify the Repair Shop’s Credibility:
Before choosing a shop, check:
✔ Years in business – Established shops are usually more reliable.
✔ Customer reviews & ratings – Look for consistent positive feedback.
✔ Certifications & experience – Do they specialize in HP laptops?
✔ Warranty on repairs – A good shop offers at least 30-90 days warranty.
✔ Transparent pricing – Beware of vague pricing or hidden fees.
2. Ask About the Repair Process:
Call or visit the shop and ask:
- Do they use genuine HP parts?
- How much will it cost? (Get a written estimate)
- How long will the repair take?
- What warranty do they offer on repairs?
3. Avoid Red Flags 🚩:
❌ No reviews or bad reputation
❌ Asking for full payment upfront
❌ No clear explanation of the repair process
❌ Suspiciously cheap pricing (may use low-quality parts)
Final Recommendation:
If possible, an HP Authorized Service Center is the safest choice. If using a third-party repair shop, do thorough research before trusting them with your laptop.
