I have an Envy 17.3 laptop. I want to run it with dual monitors. I have a second monitor hooked up via HDMI. When I go through settings > system, display, multiple displays, the system cannot find the second monitor. I have tried all of the combinations in the display area to try to get it to see another monitor, but nothing works.
But. If I start with the system booted up and running I guess I would say normally. An interesting thing happens. If I UNPLUG the second monitor from power for about 5-10 seconds, then plug it back in , the second monitor now displays a background copy of the main display, and can be used like any second monitor, just fine. I am probably doing something stupid here, but this is the way it works. Note that settings > display > multiple monitors still cannot detect it, even though it is running fine. Any thoughts:
