Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I understand you want to disable the touchpad and keyboard on your HP Spectre notebook.

To disable the Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad feature, open the TouchPad tab in Mouse Properties.

  1. Click Start , and then type mouse in the search field.

  2. Click Change your mouse settings.

  3. Click Additional mouse options.

    Clicking on Additional mouse options

  4. In Mouse Properties, click the TouchPad tab.

NOTE: Some HP notebooks have an HP Control Zone tab. If your notebook has this tab, open it and click HP Control Zone Disable. If the properties window does not have a TouchPad option, then the TouchPad functionality is not available.
  5. Uncheck Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad.

NOTE: If the option is not available on the Mouse Properties window, click Settings to open the Synaptics Control Panel. On the Click tab, uncheck Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Steps to disable keyboard.

  1. Click on Start Menu and type in Device Manager
  2. Open Device Manager and find your Keyboards
  3. Right click on it and hit 'Uninstall'

Note: Now your keyboard will be temporarily disabled until you have to restart your laptop, when you turn it back on the computer will automatically reinstall the keyboard drivers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Is there another way?

This is supposed to be a 2-in-1 laptop. Can't I go back and forth from tablet to laptop mode properly?

Can I set it up to automatically block touchpad and keyboard when in tablet mode?

Thank you for posting back.

Actually, the keyboard in Windows 10 has an automatic detector to disable the keyboard and the trackpad as soon as it becomes a 'tablet'.

  • Has it ever been disabled while in tablet mode before?

Let’s try this:
Control panel (NOT SETTINGS) ⇾ Keyboard (use icons) ⇾ Keyboard Lock ⇾ Auto-Lock the keyboard and touchpad (recommended)
You can use these settings to disable the keyboard in tablet mode.

Also, Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
